Letters from Ananda members, Part 35

My Closest Friend After Master
Kristy Fassler-Hecht

I am writing as a disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda since 1985. I began the SRF lessons in 1984 and subscribed to them until I had received them all. I received Kriya Initiation from SRF in Seattle in 1988.

I first met Swami Kriyananda in the summer of 1985 and have had the privilege and blessing of being in his presence on many occasions since then. He gave me discipleship initiation in 1985 and Kriya initiation in 1987. He has never been the least bit sexual towards any woman that I have observed including myself. He has always been a divine friend and eloquent disciple for Master and his teachings. Being in his presence has been nothing less than spiritually uplifting even under mundane and challenging circumstances. He is always an example of enthusiasm and deep love for God and Guru. Swami Kriyananda has been my closest spiritual friend after Master and has helped me be a much better disciple to Master than I could ever have been without his loving guidance and example.

The allegations I have read that Kriyananda is a pompous leader seducing women at any opportunity are not only ludicrous, they are malicious. See the fruit of his labors yourself.

Ananda is an incredible success of spiritual World Brotherhood Colonies based on the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda. Certainly mistakes are made by all of us who lack complete self-realization, even at Ananda. That’s how we grow! And anyone on the spiritual path thanks God for the opportunity to grow through such trials. Swami has always been totally honest with us about his mistakes and I don’t doubt his word for a moment. Swami Kriyananda is a divine instrument and totally dedicated disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda. I am deeply grateful for the blessing of his friendship in Master.
