The inside story of the accusations against Ananda and Swami Kriyananda
I serve as webmaster for Ananda Answers. I have been a disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda since 1966. I was a member of SRF (Self-Realization Fellowship) for eight years. I then faced a decision whether to apply to become a monk at SRF, or move to Ananda Village. I had an interview with Brother Dharmananda of SRF. I told him about my quandary, and he fell silent for a moment, then cheerfully said, "I don't know why Kriyananda was dismissed from SRF, and I don't care!"
I said, "I don't, either."
Dharmananda then said, "Kriyananda is a good monk. You'll make progress if you do what he says."
Those words, I'm convinced, came straight from Master - Paramhansa Yogananda. They've certainly proved true. At Ananda, I had complete freedom to accept or ignore Swami Kriyananda's advice. Now that I'm age 70, I can look back at my life and see that when I've followed Swamiji's advice I have thrived, but when I've ignored it I've become "stuck in the mud" spiritually, failing to move forward spiritually. My gratitude for his guidance and unceasing friendship is boundless.
